SUMMER 2010 – FOR EVERYONE

At GBC we desire to provide an atmosphere where people can grow in their walk with Christ and fulfill His great commission. In order to do this, we provide various studies throughout the week where you can be equipped, grow in fellowship, and receive encouragement to walk faithfully with our Lord. The following is a list of what is currently being offered at GBC:

SUNDAYS AT GRAHAM BIBLE

PRESSING INTO PRAYER

8 – 9 A.M. | MAIN SANCTUARY
Jesus said in John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches; if a man abides in me and I in Him, he will bear much fruit, but apart from me, you can do nothing.” At GBC we deeply believe that if we draw near to our Lord in prayer that He will produce much fruit in us and through us. We also believe that if we neglect to cling to Him in prayer, we will wither into spiritual ruin. Please consider beginning the Lord’s Day with us in a time of prayer.

CHILDREN’S DISCIPLESHIP HOUR

9 – 10 A.M. | FELLOWSHIP AREA
Throughout the Scriptures, God calls parents to “train their children up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” This means that parents have the primary responsibility of raising their children. At GBC we want to equip parents to do this, but we also recognize that the church also has the honor and responsibility of teaching the next generation. In light of this, we have an age-based discipleship program designed to help children understand what it means to live for the glory of God. These classes are for children two years of age through 5th grade. Please bring your children to these classes so they can learn even more what it means to walk with their Creator.

FAMILY DISCIPLESHIP HOUR

9 – 10 A.M. | CLASSROOMS AND MAIN SANCTUARY

ADULT BIBLE STUDY | Dr. Cawley & Harold Stinson

Join us for a study of the book of Mark. This is an open group, and all are welcome.

WHO IS THE TRINITY? | Garrett Kell

God has revealed Himself as one eternal God who exists in three distinct persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. What does this mean about who God is, who we are since we are created in His image, and what He desires from us? This study on the Trinity will help you see what the Bible says about the Trinity and how that knowledge should transform our lives.

YOUTH BIBLE STUDY | Brent Williams

For students who desire to study with others their age, Brent will be teaching through the books of 1 & 2 Timothy. In this study, he will help them understand what it means to be a young person of godly character and how to glorify Christ with their lives. Parents are welcome to attend.

SUNDAY NIGHTS @ GBC

Since this is Garrett’s last summer with us, he would like to take this opportunity to teach through two books of the Bible that he considers critical for the church to wrestle with. The first of these books is Romans, the other is Revelation.

Garrett will be having an informal church-wide bible study at GBC on Sunday nights from 6 – 7:30 p.m. During June and July he will teach Romans and then, if enough people are interested, he will teach Revelation in August and September. The study will not be as in-depth as a Sunday morning sermon since the goal is to understand the book as a whole. We will take about two or three chapters per night.

Please understand that we have intentionally not had anything on Sunday nights in order for families to spend meaningful time together. If coming to this study would hinder that, please don’t feel the pressure to attend. This is being offered as an optional opportunity for those who sense that the Lord would { want them to come.

WEEKLY BIBLE STUDIES

MEN’S EVENING BIBLE STUDY

Mondays at 7 P.M. | Host: Stinson Family | 549.1940 | 1309 Circle Dr.
Monday night men’s Bible study is a good time of fellowship, learning, and growing together as brothers in Christ. We begin with a home cooked meal, a time of prayer, and then a verse-by-verse study in the Scriptures. We are currently studying through the book of 2 Kings. New men are always welcome to the study.

MEN’S MORNING BIBLE STUDY

Wednesdays at 6 A.M. | Host: Stinson Family | 549.1940 | 1309 Circle Dr.
The “early risers” study is another good time of fellowship, learning, and growing together as brothers in Christ. The fellas begin with a light breakfast, then pray for each other, and study the Scriptures together. The men will continue studying the book of Romans.

WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY

Mondays at 6:30 P.M. | Host: Kell Family | 549.0117 | 1304 S. Rodgers Dr.
Monday night women’s Bible study provides the ladies of GBC an opportunity to come together in prayer, fellowship, and studying lessons from the Scriptures. This summer, we will study “Faithful, Abundant, True” by Kay Arthur, Priscilla
Shirer, and Beth Moore.

CHURCH-WIDE PRAYER & FASTING

EVERY THURSDAY | 6 A.M. – 2 P.M. | GBC
Every Thursday, we will open the church from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. for people to come and join us in prayer. You can come before work, during your lunch hour, or if you feel led to take a vacation day and join us for the entire day, we would love to have you. Fasting with us is not a requirement, but is encouraged if you are able. We see a great need for our church body to be engaged in corporate prayer on a consistent basis. The heart behind this weekly time of devotion is to draw near to our Lord in an intentional, sincere, and fully focused way. If you have any questions about the day of fasting, please contact one of the staff.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

NURSING HOME MINISTRY

On the 4th Sunday of each month, GBC hosts a worship service for the residents of Graham Oaks Care Center beginning at 3 p.m. We have a time of prayer, singing, and a short devotional sermon. Just having people come to sit and talk with them is a huge blessing for these residents. God calls us to care for the elderly and says in James 1:28 that “pure religion in the sight of our God and Father is to visit orphans and widows in their distress.” This is one way to bless many who have been forgotten by our society. Summer services are on June 27th, July 25th, and August 22nd. For more information please contact Garrett at 549.0117.

JAIL HOUSE MINISTRY

At 2 p.m. every other Sunday GBC hosts a service for the inmates of the Young County Jail. This ministry provides a unique opportunity to serve many people who are desperate to make changes in their lives. Summer services are on June 6th and 20th, July 4th and 18th, and August 1st, 15th, and 29th. For more information, please contact Mark Nesbitt at 521.2506 or Reagan Kelley at 521.2523.

CLOTHES CLOSET / FOOD PANTRY

On the 4th Thursday of each month, GBC serves at the Clothes Closet located at 601 Indiana Dr. in Graham, TX. There are two shifts that run on that day from 10 a.m.-noon and 1-3 p.m. The Clothes Closet / Food Pantry is dedicated to helping those less fortunate get the bare essentials their families need for the month. Summer dates are June 24th, July 22nd, and August 26th. If you are willing to help serve those who are struggling in our community, please contact Carrie Kell at 549.0117 or Paula Edwards at 549.7448.
